Solar Street Light Project on Ghana Highway
Location
Situated along one of West Africa’s key transport corridors, the Ghana Highway serves as a vital infrastructure channel that links major cities, facilitates trade, and supports regional mobility. As part of the country’s commitment to sustainable development and public safety, a large-scale solar street light project was implemented in June 2018 to enhance nighttime visibility and reduce reliance on the national power grid.

Project Description
In June 2018, a large-scale solar lighting project was completed along the Ghana Highway, featuring the installation of 1,600 sets of 80W all-in-one solar street lights. Each unit is equipped with LED modules, mounted on 9-meter-high poles spaced 30 meters apart, and powered by 110W monocrystalline solar panels.Designed for off-grid performance, the system provides reliable, energy-efficient lighting, significantly enhancing nighttime visibility and road safety. This project demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy solutions.
